Ironing is a chore that always involved a call to my mom. It was a quiet task that allowed for a good chat unlike emptying the dishwasher or putting groceries away for instance. Another unexpected "side effect" of grief since my mom passed this past spring is that my ironing is piling up. I really enjoyed the read. xo
commisery and confession: the "unpleasant trip down into our dank basement" brought back childhood memories that also included the scary plug and socket (ours hung from a rafter.) i cringe remembering that i tried "helping" iron some clean clothes, piled in a musty wicker laundry basket, but proceeded to iron a polyester shirt of my brother's and MELTED it!!! instead of 'fessing up, i hid the evidence amid what was left in the basket and only admitted to my shameful "help" as a grown up. thanks for the memories!
Found out about 3 weeks ago, while visiting my sister MK, that the iron itself can be key. I used her new iron on a linen shirt. It was amazing! and I didn't want to stop - would have ironed 4 or 5 more.
Do you know the name of the iron? The one Patric uses in the video looks so nice as and heavy….and it has that stand to set it in. Ready for a better iron! And maybe ironing board too

What a sweet image of the two of you…..and that heartbreaking pile of clothes to be ironed. Thanks, Megan. I feel this.
The only kind of AI posts I want to read!!! Loved every bit

Hilarious! I can only imagine your terror as you waited for him to find out! Instead of the Tell-Tale Heart, the Tell-Tale Polyester Shirt!
Now I know how to iron a shirt!
Love this. My mom is an ironing master. It’s all about the iron, I’m going to look up Patric’s brand. He is a gem! Lost art I’d say!!!❤️
My sister-in-law told me Patric’s brand is over $1,000…. Yikes… what iron does your mom use?
She loves Rowenta!
